10 Reasons to Eat Biltong

10 Reasons to Eat Biltong
If you are one of our loyal customers who loves our biltong, we hope you are enjoying your order! However, if you are new to biltong and are curious to learn more about this South African dish, check out our list of our top ten reasons to try out our Brooklyn Biltong.

#1 Grass Fed Beef. All of our biltong is handcrafted from the finest grass fed beef. No sugars, corn syrup, or anything artificial added. Nothing to see here, but real food!

#2 Real Ingredients. Our Brooklyn Biltong is made from real ingredients, you know, the ones you can actually pronounce like Beef, Apple Cider Vinegar, Water, Sea Salt, Coriander, Black Pepper, and Allspice. No artificial flavors or preservatives, just raw and real ingredients.

#3 Higher Quality. Most cured meats lose their nutrients during the heating process, which is needed in order to dry out the meat. For example, beef jerky takes only roughly 5 hours to produce. However, our biltong is air dried over the course of 3-4 days. This air drying technique retains the meat’s core nutrients providing a higher quality source of protein.

#4 Whole30 and Paleo Approved. We are honored to say our biltong is Whole30 and Paleo Approved. No big deal or anything. (Actually, it IS a big deal and we are thrilled to be recognized for our quality ingredients).

#5 Packed with Protein. One ounce of our biltong has 12 grams of protein making for a satisfying snack, especially post workout aiding in muscle recovery and repair. Experts say the best snack after a workout is a combination of protein and carbohydrates, so instead of reaching for that chalky protein smoothie, grab a bag of our Brooklyn Biltong.

#6 Low in Fat. At only 70 calories an ounce, biltong is a low calorie snack, so don’t feel bad about going back for that second handful. Don’t worry, we won’t tell anyone.

#7 Less Chewing, More Enjoying. By dousing our biltong in vinegar and salt, it becomes less chewy than other dried meats, like jerky. No need to carry that pack of dental floss with you anymore, its’ services are no longer needed. Leave it at home and just enjoy your bag of biltong!

#8 Grab and Go. Cut in long strips as opposed to random sized chunks of other dried meats, biltong is easy to grab, go, and enjoy no matter where you find yourself!

#9 Plays Well with Others. Enjoy biltong on its own or add it to other dishes including salad, pizza, omelettes, bruschetta, avocado toast, and cornbread muffins. We recommend pairing it with wine, bread, and cheese making for the ultimate charcuterie platter. Be sure to share!

#10 Delicious. Did we mention it’s delicious? Try some for yourself and order a bag. Healthy snacking everyone!
